There was another huge turnout of Foyle Valley athletes to witness Scott Rankin lift the Furey series title in tremendous style last night.  Scott (15:47) stormed home 15 seconds clear of City of Derry’s Gary Slevin for a third victory in the six race series to take the title in emphatic style.
There were also great showings for Cathal McLaughlin (16:17) with another PB for 5th, Pius McIntyre (16:20) for 6th, the incredible, ever improving Keith Shiels (16:33) in 8th and Chris McGuinness (16:50) for 10th spot.  Barry Smith (17:03) ran a fantastic race finished 11th and smashed his PB. Paul Slevin (17:54) and Ciaran Graham (17:56) had a great battle and were closely followed home by Teague Whoriskey (18:01)  
Mark Linton (18:10) and Martin Dunleavy (18:16) put in mighty efforts for more PBs and looking at the results Ciaran Smyth ran 12 races which is some performance!
For the ladies Helena Crossan sealed the overall series title with another victory. Rosie O'Brien collected 2nd place in the female open for the series and continues to be a dedicated inspiration for the ladies!
The cool summer evening made for ideal running conditions and the purple vests dominated the numbers on the night in a field of 113 over the two lap Balliniska layout and had a great showing at the top end of the leader board.
The course was very testing and the Northland road hills sapped strength from all legs but a great finishing stretch with great local support helped all athletes across the line.
